Aurora University celebrated Traditional Day on January 9, 2026, highlighting the rich traditions, customs, and cultural heritage of the Telangana region. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff in a vibrant celebration that reflected pride in Telangana’s timeless legacy.
The celebrations commenced with a Rangoli Competition, where participants displayed artistic creativity through intricate designs inspired by Telangana’s folk art and cultural symbols. The campus was beautifully decorated with traditional patterns and motifs, enhancing the festive spirit.
This was followed by the Pongal Cooking Competition, which showcased the culinary richness of Telangana. Participants prepared traditional rice-based delicacies associated with the Sankranti harvest festival, filling the atmosphere with the aroma of authentic regional flavors.
One of the most engaging events of the day was the Kite Flying Competition, a beloved Sankranti tradition in Telangana. The sky came alive with vibrant kites, symbolizing joy, enthusiasm, and the festive essence of the season.
The Traditional Ramp Walk added elegance to the celebrations, as participants proudly displayed Telangana’s traditional attire, including graceful pattu sarees, dhotis, and festive kurtas. The ramp walk beautifully highlighted the diversity and cultural significance of regional clothing and ornaments.
The celebrations concluded with an energetic folk dance session, featuring traditional Telangana rhythms and songs such as Bathukamma and Bonalu. Students and faculty participated enthusiastically, creating an atmosphere of unity, joy, and cultural harmony.
Traditional Day 2026 was a resounding success, offering an immersive cultural experience and strengthening appreciation for Telangana’s heritage. The winners and runners-up of various competitions were felicitated by Dr. T.Swetha, Controller of Examination, and Ms. Ratnasree, Dean – School of Ancient Hindu Studies, in recognition of their outstanding performances.
